Higher Monetary Penalties for Unpermitted Remodels, Additions and Demolitions of Buildings Passes City’s PLUM Committee

On May 7, 2019, Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell of CD13 introduced a Motion in City Council to impose more significant monetary penalties for unpermitted building remodels, additions, and demolitions. The Motion was seconded by CD5’s Councilmember Paul Koretz and CD4’s Councilmember David Ryu. On June 25, 2019, the Motion was approved by Planning and Land Use Management Committee.

Mohamed Hadid and his 901 Strada Vecchia property is considered high-profile example on why penalties should be significantly increased for “unscrupulous developers.”
