Adopt a New Family Member from the West Los Angeles Shelter!
Some wonderful animals urgently need to be adopted or fostered from our local West LA animal shelter. See this week’s featured animals below! If you can’t adopt, or foster for a period of time, consider volunteering, donating, or providing items from the shelter’s Wish Lists. Every bit helps!

RASCAL ID# A1480878
Rascal is an shy, adorable, and gentle 8-yr-old, 35 lb male dog. He was surrendered on 9/16/22, and his skin and coat were in terrible shape. For the first week or so, Rascal was very scared of everyone. But thanks to some time and treats, this medium-sized fella let his guard down, and we got to see what a super-sweet guy he really is! Rascal lights up when it’s time to go for a walk, and has the best leash manners.
He was initially reserved when it came to being petted, but now he enjoys it from the people he knows. And while he can still be a bit timid around strangers, Rascal warms up if they take it slow. We recently introduced Rascal to Melvin, a beautiful young husky — and Rascal had a complete blast chasing him around the yard! When Melvin asked for space, Rascal backed off and did his own thing, so we think Rascal would do great with another playful dog in the home.
Since being treated at the shelter, Rascal’s skin has greatly improved and his coat is slowly growing in. We wish we had his “before” photos! But thanks to the medical staff, we promise his current condition is a vast improvement over where he started! Rascal is in the medical kennels out of public view, so PLEASE share this post and help him get seen, and saved or adopted. He’s a special little pup and deserves lots of TLC in a loving home.
SASSY & PIBBY ID# A1759870 & ID# A1759871
The shelters have seen seniors surrendered in record numbers lately, and this duo absolutely broke us. Sassy and Pibby were surrendered yesterday due to “litter box issues as a result of medical problems we cannot afford to treat.” Their former owner noted them both as having bladder issues, gum disease, and possible dementia. It’s a big ask to take two seniors with medical issues, but the shelter volunteers are committed to doing everything possible to get these sisters safely out of the shelter and into a loving home.
These girls are truly as sweet as they come, but are very confused as to where they are and why they’ve suddenly lost their lifelong home. They’re eating wet food well, and receptive of affection. Sassy (the more outgoing) seems like her teeth are her biggest issue. Her owner noted she was vocal at night, hence thinking possible dementia, but it could simply be pain from untreated dental issues. Sassy sits at the front of her cage, trying to process her world, which was turned upside down overnight. Pibby is a bit more reserved but we are thankful she stood up today and wanted to be petted.
The shelter volunteers are desperate to get this pair into a home ASAP! Please share far and wide! They will do anything and everything possible to support a rescue group or an adopter willing to save their super senior sisters!
TILAMONA ID# A2057520
Tilamona is a two-and-a-half month old, three lb Siamese kitten in need of a rescue or loving adopter. She’s an adorable little lady with a pretty pronounced head tilt. She’s friendly and playful and just needs a lift home with you from the shelter!
Sweet Tilamona is currently in the shelter medical area being treated for the following:
1. Upper respiratory infection (doing much better)
2. Tongue ulcer
3. Head tilt, possibly from ear mites and/or an infection
This is an absolutely gorgeous little kitten, just in need of a small amount of vet attention. Please come rescue her from the shelter before she’s snapped up!!! The shelter is open over the weekend from 11am to 5pm each day.
