Emergency preparedness
The BAA oversees an Emergency Preparedness task force. Our area of approximately 1800 homes is divided up into 84 sectors. Each sector is “walkable,” in the case of an emergency, and almost all of our sectors have a Team Captain.
The BAA provides walkie-talkies to all captains to use in the event of a true disaster (of the magnitude where we are left with no electricity, no cell service, no gas, and no city services). We run tests biannually to make sure our network is functioning.
The Fire Department has asked all hillside communities to create some type of system for people to communicate with one another in the event of this type of emergency, so neighboring homes could help each other. If a catastrophic disaster happens, the fire department said it could be days or weeks before they could reach and help us, so we must rely on each other.
Every household has been assigned to an Emergency Prep sector, but we do not have current cell phone numbers or emails for MANY of our residents. To receive communications from your Team Captain, either by text or email, we must be able to reach you. Click here to send or update your information via the online Emergency Prep Form.
