REPORTING NUISANCE PARTY HOUSES OR UNRULY GATHERINGS

It’s the middle of the night and somebody is having a nuisance party. What do I do?

  1. Figure out where the party is. You need the address or at the very least the street the house is on and the nearby cross street.

  2. Are there fire hazards or underage drinking or is criminal activity happening? Is the road blocked? If you answered yes, you should call 911. If you answered no, call 1-877-ASK-LAPD. You may be on hold for a long time, and response time may be long but this is a very important step. If you think the noise might not be audible from the street you may want the responding officer to respond to your house first.

  3. Document what you are hearing and seeing. This is important information to have in the event that this house becomes a regular nuisance location.

  4. Emai l info@belairassociation.org to let us know what happened.

  5. Parking enforcement works 24/7, so if there are parking issues please call parking enforcement at (213) 485-4184

It’s the middle of the night and my nearby party house is at it again. What do I do?

  1. Follow the above steps.

  2. Email our Neighborhood Prosecutor (Veronica de la Cruz-Robles, email veronica.delacruz-robles@lacity.org) and our Senior Lead Officer (Office James Allen, email 39318@lapd.online) to let them know about the location. Please include the address of the party house in the subject line of your email.

  3. Mak e sure to copy info@belairassociation.org so that we can help with follow-up

  4. Documentation is very important, so record your observations every time. TAKE PHOTOS and VIDEO if you can!!!

  5. Persistence is incredibly important. Do not lose heart or think that this isn’t working.

It's an Airbnb. What else should I do?

  1. File a complaint at https://www.airbnb.com/neighbors

  2. Call the 24/7 complaint hotline (213) 267-7788 or email planning.home-sharing@lacity.org

  3. Let BAA know what actions you have taken (info@belairassociation.org)

It’s the middle of the day but the noise from the party is driving me nuts. What do I do?

  1. Call 1-877-ASK-LAPD. The noise ordinance is in effect 24/7, and noise is not supposed to travel across property lines.

  2. If it’s a weekday, you can also call noise enforcement at (213) 996-1250.

What laws apply to party houses, anyway?
