Traffic Alert: Laurel Canyon Blvd closure causes increased traffic on Beverly Glen and Coldwater Canyon

The current closures on Laurel Canyon Blvd. remain in place as the City continues to assess the public safety situation.  Because of the weather, city agencies will not be able to assess the stability of the hillside and the homes until the rain subsides.  We hope to have a more definitive timeline for reopening and a more detailed traffic plan once City crews return tomorrow.

The City now has set up a webpage to provide updates: http://emergency.lacity.org/laurelcanyonclosure  which includes a map.  Please continue to check the site regularly for information:

Due to a mudslide, Laurel Canyon Blvd. remails closed between Mulholland and Sunset.  Specifically, there are closures at Sunset and Laurel Canyon, Hollywood Boulevard and Laurel Canyon, Kirkwood and Laurel Canyon, Mount Olympus and Laurel Canyon, Mulholland and Laurel Canyon.  Residents are allowed to access their homes, but commuters must use alternative routes.  This area is completely closed to trucks over 6,000 lbs.

Until further notice, vehicles over 6000 pounds will be prohibited from using Laurel Canyon Boulevard and other hillside streets to get between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley, for the area between the 101 Freeway and the 405 Freeway.   Large vehicles are recommended to use either of these freeways during this time.
