Councilmember Koretz and Urban Forestry’s Tim Tyson meet with BAA’s Tree Preservation Committee

The BAA’s Tree Preservation Committee hosted a meeting on Friday, February 3, 2017, with Councilmember Koretz, Mr. Timothy Tyson, Director of Urban Forestry, Mr. Andy Shrader — CD5’s Director of Environmental Affairs, and Ms. Jennifer Pope, Policy Analyst from Mayor Garcetti’s office.

The purpose of this meeting was to address the Protected Tree Ordinance, the cumulative environmental impact concerns caused by the numerous larger developments in the Bel-Air community, and to gain insight on how protected tree permits are granted and enforced.

Also attending were representatives from Laurel Canyon Association, Benedict Canyon Association, North of Sunset/Doheny Bird Streets, Alison Simard and Tony Tucci of CLAW (Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife), TreePeople’s lead arborist Ms. Linda Eremita,  and several Bel-Air residents.  Dan Love, President, and Maureen Levinson, VP, of the Bel-Air Association were also in attendance.

The Officers and Directors of the BAA would like to thank Bel-Air residents Dr. Linda Whitford and Ms. April Tausik for their tireless effort to bring our community’s concerns to City officials.  A special thank you to Councilmember Koretz and Andy Shrader for their interest and support on these important community environmental issues.
