Update on Home-sharing Ordinance and the Vacation Rentals Ordinance

Home-Sharing Ordinance - AirBnb cracks down on LAPD-identified party houses in the hillsides

Airbnb has removed listings for 28 homes in the hills identified as nuisance properties. If a loud party (or other nuisance activity) occurs at an Airbnb in your area, now you can call the hotline at (213) 267-7788 in addition to the normal calls to the LAPD.  You can also email planning.home-sharing.enforcement@lacity.org

If you believe that an Airbnb or other short term rental is operating illegally (too many days, non-primary residence, etc.) you should report by phone but in this case please do report by email as well:  planning.home-sharing.enforcement@lacity.org.

If you can find the listing for the property please include it in all email regarding problems you are encountering.  Please copy the Bel-Air Association at info@belairassociation.org on all correspondence.

Vacation Rentals Ordinance

The Home-sharing Ordinance restricted short term rentals to primary residences.  There is a new ordinance under consideration - the Vacation Rentals Ordinance - that would allow limited rental of non-primary residences.  The current proposal is to allow owners to rent out a single non-primary residence in the City for 30 days per year.  As with the Home-sharing Ordinance, pending violations (code violations, party house violations, etc.) would bar the residence from being rented.
