Westwood Village Sexual Predator Captured: Bail set at $575,000

On December 15, 2020, a dangerous suspect had finally been arrested for a series of at least 23 sexual batteries, beginning in October, in and around Westwood. The suspect would approach loan females on the sidewalk by either running up to them or on his bicycle and aggressively assault them and take off. It was difficult to get a positive ID by the victims due to the fact he was wearing a face mask. LAPD followed investigative leads with UCLA Police Department and LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide - Sexual Assault Division with West Los Angeles Division detectives, as well as the Westwood Village business community. Undercover detectives were in Westwood Village on Tuesday, trying to capture this suspect as he had committed three additional assaults that very day. He was caught as he ran up and assaulted a well-known and kind homeless woman who lives in the Westwood Village area. He has a $575,000 bail — which is high considering today’s age of “no bail.”

LAPD is asking if there are any more victims in the community who have not come forward to please do so by contacting the West LA Police Station or email our Senior Lead Officer, Pete Ojeda at 36393@lapd.online

COVID-19 IMPACTS on LAPD Personnel

LAPD Department: There are 1,285 positive employee cases (58 cases this week); 1011 sworn officers (+48 this week) and 254 civilian employees (+10 this week).

WEST LA DIVISION: 18 positive (+11 cases this week). For the small West LA Division with approximately 230 employees, there are 15 employees out just with COVID — and that is added to the normal people off due to abnormalities, injuries, etc. West LA is trying to maintain the same standard of service thanks to the help from neighboring divisions.

Community-Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) Meeting Wednesday, December 16th at 2 PM — community invited to participate

The next Community-Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) is scheduled for Wednesday, December 30th, at 2 PM. Community is welcome to participate. Date is subject to change.

Please email Robert Ringler for details to add you to the next meeting.

What is C-PAB?

Community-Police Advisory Boards (C-PABs) were created in 1993 to provide community members with an opportunity to provide information and advice to their respective Area and to take information from the police department back to the community.

Each of the 21 geographic Areas (community police stations) throughout Los Angeles has its own C-PAB. These advisory groups meet monthly to discuss crime and quality of life issues. Each C-PAB has two co-chairs, one of the Area commanding officer while the second is a civilian member voted on by the membership.

Recently, many C-PABs have formed subcommittees in addition to the general group to tackle specific crime and quality of life problems. Examples of C-PAB subcommittees include Graffiti, Youth, Homeless Outreach and Traffic.
