Statewide Flex Alert: Prepare for power outages

Statewide Flex Alert

A Statewide Flex Alert is issued for today, August 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and more may be expected this weekend. A Flex Alert is typically issued in the summer when extremely hot weather pushes up energy demand for periods where we might exceed available capacity. Flex Alerts are voluntary calls for consumers to conserve electricity by:

  • Setting air conditioner to 78 degrees or higher, if health permits

  • Postponing the use of major appliances until after 9 pm

  • Turning off all unnecessary lights.

See flexalert.org for more tips to conserve energy.
