City Attorney announces criminal charges against developers in Laurel Canyon for alleged building and safety violations
Excerpt from video linked below:
City Attorney Mike Feuer has filed 35 criminal charges against developers for alleged building and safety violations in Laurel Canyon. The counts cite failure to stop work and remove partially-constructed, unpermitted houses built without required environmental review. Five hilltop homes in the Santa Monica Mountains, which were constructed without an Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”), were ordered to be demolished in 2003. Not only were these partially-constructed houses not demolished, but reports allege that construction has recently resumed. The City attorney’s office is pursuing misdemeanor criminal charges against the developers for failure to obtain permits before resuming construction.
