It's Time to Clean Out Your Barn Owl Box! A message from CLAW

Image from CLAW

This time of year is generally a good time to do annual maintenance on your box. Use a trowel or other cleaning tool to take out any old material, and add a fresh layer of wood shavings about 3/4" deep. Please use rubber gloves and a dust mask rated N95 or higher during cleaning.

CLAW Chair Tony Tucci was recently interviewed by Juliet Lemar at Palisades News about our Barn Owl Nesting Box Program. Barn owls eat almost nothing but rodents, which means they can be a much better alternative to poisons for keeping rodent populations down. Unfortunately, their available nesting habitat continues to dwindle as humans encroach further into natural open spaces. This is why CLAW started the Program, which gives LA citizens an opportunity to host a nesting box to attract these amazing animals.
