Councilmember Koretz is trying to Right a Big Wrong.

For nearly five years, neighbors have wondered how so much dirt made its way onto the large property on Bellagio Road. After investigating, the Department of Building & Safety issue Orders to Comply and ultimately listed all the development’s permits as “Intent to Revoke”.

Fast-forwarding, a recent decision was made by the local Planning Commission that had many in the community scratching their heads in confusion, including Councilmember Paul Koretz.

Not happy with the commission’s decision and the implications it could have for the Bel-Air community, Councilmember Koretz initiated a rarely used City Council provision known as “Charter Section 245”.

This provision allows the City Council to review the details of the case and render their own decision or remand the matter back to the previous commission for further consideration. In this instance, the Council has sent to item back to the commission asking for a reevaluation.

We will keep you updated as the matter continues to progress. But in the meantime, we appreciate Councilmember Koretz’s ability to see the potential for a damaging precedent and his willingness to intervene on our community’s behalf.
