In Memoriam: Yvette Mimieux Ruby, long-time resident of Bel-Air
Yvette Mimieux Ruby, a friend to many in the community and a long-time member of the Bel-Air Association, passed away on January 17, 2022.
Ms. Mimieux, an accomplished film and television actress, writer, and producer, had been nominated for several Golden Globe Awards throughout her career.
Many will remember her by her role as Weena in a 1960 film adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel “The Time Machine.” Other 1960s movies included “Where the Boys Are,” “Light in the Piazza” and “Toys in the Attic.” Mimieux wrote and played the lead on the 1974 TV-Movie “Hit Lady” and appeared with Tommy Lee Jones in the 1976 box office hit “Jackson County Jail.” She also starred as a scientist in the 1979 Disney science fiction film “The Black Hole.” She retired from the screen in 1992.
The Bel-Air Association offers their condolences to her husband, Howard, her family and her close friends. She will be missed.
