STARLA

ID# A1977853

Four years old, 47 lbs, female

Our hearts are breaking for Starla because all this adorable dog wants to do is give and get lots of love, yet she’s been waiting for her forever home for over 17 months! Starla is a huge ray of sunshine who loves getting pets and affection, and she's always quick to show her appreciation with her big wide smile and little kisses on your face and hands.

A medium-to-high energy girl, Starla loves doing zoomies in the yard, chasing balls, and playing tug. During off-site walks, when she gets a break from the stressful shelter environment, she’ll happily flop down next to her person so she can people-watch and enjoy back rubs and cuddle time.

Starla's always eager to please and already knows her “sit,” “come,” and “down” cues. She can pull hard on her leash at times, but with daily consistent training she’ll improve in no time! Starla will thrive with an active, experienced owner who’ll have her as the only pet in the home. She’d probably love a yard to get her zoomies out, but we think she’d be fine in an apartment if she was getting plenty of daily exercise.

The shelter staff and volunteers really adore Starla and know she’s going to be a loving and loyal companion. If you come visit, you’ll see she’s hyper in her kennel, but don’t let that fool you! She’s just anxious due to her long shelter stay and only getting out of her cage for a walk once or twice a week. Please take the time to meet this loving, energetic girl out in the shelter’s yard to see the awesome dog she really is!

BEANKY and FITZY

ID# A2047839 and A2047840

Five months old, spayed females

Beanky and Fitzy are bonded sisters. This sweet, shy pair came into the shelter as strays and are understandably a bit uncertain of their new environment. The shelter staff and volunteers are slowly finding ways into their hearts, though, and have found they like a comfy, fitted-out Fancy Feast box and yummy squeeze treats. Being on their own as babies, Beanky and Fitzy are still learning to trust humans and will benefit from a loving and patient home that will allow them to take their time to learn to fully trust.

During their stay at the shelter they’ve shown their curiosity and allow slow, gentle pets. They are still easily startled and would do well with a calm environment where they can fully relax and open up. Staff and volunteers have seen major progress during the time they’ve had so far to work with this sweet pair! While both are still uncertain of being touched, they have never tried to swat or bite, but instead just softly shy away.

These girls must be adopted as a pair and it’s obvious why once you see them snuggled up together! Adopting two kittens at once is often easier for the humans, too, since it gives the kittens a constant playmate and they can keep each other company when you’re not home. If you’re the right human for Beanky and Fitzy, come meet them soon!

FIN & JUKE

ID# A2012282 and A2012286

About one year old, three lbs, both male

Fin and Juke are a bonded pair of male guinea pigs that must be adopted together. They came into the shelter back in December, and were adopted in March. Unfortunately, they were returned through no fault of their own and are back at the shelter. They are settling back in and looking for their furever home once again!

Fin and Juke are extremely sweet, shy, and look to each other for comfort. Upon their first day back at the shelter, they were popcorning and zooming around in their 8-foot-square enclosure.

Come visit the West LA shelter and meet these gentle boys! The volunteers are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about guinea pigs and guinea pig care!
