Continued Power Failures on Stone Canyon

Many of the homes on Stone Canyon experienced their 14th power outage in only 26 days.

We went up to speak with one of the crews on Rocca at approx. 12PM.   After several hours, the crew was still trying to locate the issue. We were told that once the crew finds the problem, it will take another 1-2 hours to repair.  When asked about the cause of the continued outages, we were told the issue is a combination of the amount of electricity being pulled exceeding the design for the system, combined with water infiltration. The workers also said unfortunately the underground infrastructure is antiquated and not realistically able to be upgraded without extensive construction.

LADWP suggested homeowners look into getting a natural gas generator for backup power.  

The association is planning a webinar to discuss the recent outages and ways to address the problem, and generator options.
