Metro unexpectedly closing Sunset Blvd

Metro will be closing Sunset at the following locations and times. The Bel-Air Association had no idea this was happening, and neither did various other City agencies. We regret not to be able to give you more notice or information. See below for a message to the community from Fred Rosen.

When: September 9–10, 2023 and September 17, 2023 (if needed). No work will occur on September 16, 2023.

  • Udine Wy will be reduced to one lane of through traffic during this activity. Flaggers will be present to safely allow through traffic to pass by the work area and facilitate ingress/egress from/to Sunset Bl.

  • Street parking on Udine Wy will be restricted during work hours. Eastbound traffic on Sunset Bl will be closed to through traffic at Veteran Av.

  • Westbound traffic on Sunset Bl will be closed to through traffic at Beverly Glen Bl.

  • Eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured at Veteran Av and Beverly Glen Bl, respectively.

  • Local access will be maintained. Detour map can be found in the full notice online.

The following is a message to the community from Fred Rosen:

The inconvenience to our community in closing Sunset Blvd this weekend is being brought to you through the efforts by Metro and UCLA who continually act in a way that is adverse to the interest of our community and Sherman Oaks Community. Both UCLA and Metro know that there aren't adequate funds for a tunnel and how our community is strongly against this option for this project. The person who is leading this effort at UCLA is Michael Beck, Vice Chancellor (310) 825-8401. Feel free to contact Michael and let him know what you think of his advocacy in this matter and thank him for inconveniencing all of us this weekend.
