Mohamed Hadid/901 Strada Vecchia Update: Structure must be torn down and Hadid claims to be “broke”
On November 13, 2019, Judge Craig D. Karlan, who presides over the civil suit brought against Mohamed Hadid and his 901 Strada Vecchia structure by Bel-Air’s Horacek and Bedrosian residents, expressed concern over the stability of the structure’s foundation and the steepness of the property’s hillside.
Furthermore, Judge Karlan heard a consensus from all parties that the structure must be taken down to the piles (for hillside stability sake), as well as a claim that Mohamed Hadid was broke and did not have the funds to demolish the structure.
Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) also reaffirmed its position that ultimately the entire structure has to be demolished.
Next civil court hearing is set for Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Next criminal court hearing is scheduled for December 13, 2019.
