LAPD puts the fright in partiers of illegal Halloween party on Stradella Road

LAPD received advanced warning of a social media post advertising a Halloween party to take place at an empty house on Stradella Road for a charge of $27 per ticket.

The LAPD Vice Unit tracked the progress of this event and discovered approximately 1,000 people paid to attend through Eventbrite. The owner of the abandoned property was contacted and LAPD now has the documentation required to make arrests of any trespassers. Although a few people did show up, LAPD was successful in diverting the partiers away from the area.

LAPD now believes since the host of the illegal party never appeared or set-up for this party, the social media posts were part of a scam to get money for a party that was never intended to take place.

The Bel-Air Association thanks LAPD’s West Los Angeles Station, Commanding Officer Captain Jonathan Tom, Officer Brian Espin, our Senior Lead Officer Pete Ojeda, and CD5 Deputy of Public Safety Greg Martayan for their quick intervention.

Due to COVID-19, large gatherings are in violation of SaferLA restrictions. The “Safer at Home” order is a legally enforceable order. Failure to heed the order is a misdemeanor that can result in fines or jail time.

If you wish to report a large gathering, follow these instructions:

It is important to note that if you see a crime in progress or about to occur, call 911.

1. Get the ADDRESS of the property!

2. Call the non-emergency line to report a complaint. The LAPD non-emergency number is (877) 275-5273 — or (877) ASK-LAPD. This reporting system will take time so please be patient.

3. IMPORTANT TIP: Once you speak with an LAPD operator and lodge the complaint, ask the operator for the last 4 digits of the Incident number. Keep this number as part of your record of the call as it will be important.

4. It will be helpful to notify the BAA office of the report and the incident number for follow-up.

5. Be patient if LAPD cannot immediately respond. The record of the call will be useful for LAPD to confront the property owner(s) and to forward on to the City Attorney.

Even if LAPD officers cannot immediately respond due to other priority calls, the record of the incident number will be useful as those records are significant for the City Attorney to take action.
