Important message from Bel-Air Association: When it comes to Hadid, City claims hands are tied. Neighbors say Feuer unwilling to lend a hand.
Many sent City Attorney Feuer a note stating their disapproval of his office no longer pursuing Mr. Hadid’s requirement to demolish the illegal and ill conceived 901 Strada Vecchie, as stated in the Judges conditions for Hadid’s Probation. For those who sent these notes, City Attorney Feuer sent a response stating that he had done his best, but would do no more. Thereby releasing Hadid from his punishment.
Attorneys for the neighbors who have spent years and millions attempting to get the City to enforce their own code and safety standards, have sent Mr. Feuer a letter refreshing his memory on the chain of events that have brought us all to this frustrating point (see links below).
Without Mr. Feuer demanding Hadid remain on probation until he is in full compliance with the Courts ruling, the City will have no meaningful way to hold Hadid to compliance. And with current attempts to stall the demolition through dodging the payment of property taxes and stifling the Court Appointed Receiver by not paying the demolition workers, Mr. Hadid inches closer to his goal -- escaping any meaningful consequence for his criminal behavior.
