The LAPD Community Online Reporting System (CORS) is now accepting online reports for minor traffic collisions without injuries. To learn more about access to the CORS system, go to LAPDonline.org.
At this point in time, video and photos cannot be uploaded. When on the system, indicate there are no photos or videos (evidence) and get the DR number. Then call the West LA LAPD Station at (310) 444-0741 or email our Senior Lead Officer, Pete Ojeda at 36393@lapd.online with the DR number generated from the CORS online report. West LA LAPD office will send you a link to upload the photo and video evidence.
Calling in 911 calls from you cell phone: What you should be aware of….
Did you know that when you call 911 from your cell phone, depending on where you are in relation to the cell tower or if you’re near a freeway, your call to 911 may get sent directly to the California Highway Patrol (“CHP”) dispatch? When that happens, the CHP dispatch operator will ask several screening questions and then will direct your call to the appropriate jurisdiction.
From a cell phone, generally speaking it is difficult to know where you are. if it goes to CHP, they will screen you to determine if it is a true emergency. If it is, then CHP will dispatch to the appropriate entity.
The call may go directly to LAPD dispatch and the operators are required to ask a lot of questions to screen. LAPD knows it is frustrating but if something happens to you and you are uninjured, and the suspect is no longer there, you will be transferred to the LAPD non-emergency and that dispatch operator will determine whether or not an officer needs to be dispatched or if you are to be referred to another agency.
If you make an emergency call from you cell phone make sure you ask what agency you've been connected to (CHP? LAPD?). REMEMBER TO AWAYS GET AN INCIDENT NUMBER FROM THE DISPATCH OPERATOR!)
Remember: West LA Division takes any LAPD service complaint or concern very seriously. Here are email links to Commanding Officer Captain Tom, or Captain Whitman.
