Sepulveda Transit Corridor: METRO to present pre-develoment work recommendations to Executive Management Committee this week

Metro to Present Pre-Development Work Recommendation to Executive Management Committee This Week

Last week, Metro released its recommendation for two private sector teams to conduct Pre-Development work to advance the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project. On Thursday, February 18, Metro will present its recommendation to the Executive Management Committee. This week's Committee presentation is now available online and can be found in the "View Board Report" link below. Following this week's Committee meeting, Metro will present the recommendation at next week's Metro Board of Directors Meeting on Thursday, February 25.

This month’s Board Report is only a receive and file item. The Metro Board is not scheduled to vote on the staff recommendation until March 25, giving the public time to learn about the concepts and the teams behind them.

Next Steps

Following the March 2021 Board meeting, Metro will prepare for the environmental phase, which will begin with a scoping period in the fall of this year. Your continued participation in the Sepulveda Transit Corridor is important, and there will be many opportunities to provide your feedback. We will keep you updated as the Project moves forward.

About the Project

The Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project will provide a high-quality transit service that will effectively serve a large and growing travel market between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside and eventually to LAX. With nearly half a million daily travelers in the corridor, the project area is one of Southern California’s most complex and challenging – and it will require an innovative approach. For transit to be a competitive travel option that attracts new riders, there is a need to increase the speed, frequency, capacity and reliability of transit service, and provide convenient connections to existing and planned transit corridors.
