A Debt of Gratitude

For the past eight years the Horacek and Bedrosian families have stood strong against the greed and carelessness of a speculative developer, and the failures of a City to do anything about it.

Many years and many millions of dollars were spent by the Horacek and Bedrosians to protect their homes and surrounding neighborhood from the obvious dangers that were being created and left unmitigated at 901 Strada Vecchia .

Through their efforts, investigations found criminal conduct, allegations of bribery, and a total lack of structural integrity. And after a long and arduous fight,  the courts did what the City wouldn’t do, and that’s force the demolition of the clear and present danger.

This past week, a jury found that significant damage had been done to the neighbors of the 901 Strada Vecchia project, and awarded damages to the neighbors.

Our community is stronger because of the Horacek’s and Bedrosian’s tenacity; and for that, we owe a debt of gratitude.

ADDENDUM for those interested in attending: There is a hearing on September 22, 2021, at 8:30 AM, at the Los Angeles Superior Court in Santa Monica, to decide if the city will pay for any part of the demolition, if needed, since the judge approved the MLS listing at $5.5M which is short by $1M budget to demo and restore the hillside.
