I-405 Sepulveda Pass Express Lanes Project: Still time to submit comments
Excerpts from METRO’s notification:
Thank you to those who attended one of the three public scoping meetings for the I-405 Sepulveda Pass ExpressLanes project. For those who were not able to attend, video recordings of the presentation have been posted in both English and Spanish to the Interactive StoryMap at 405expresslanes.info (see ‘Scoping’ section).
There’s still time to submit your scoping comments! The scoping comment period was recently extended from 30 days to 60 days, through October 1, 2021. METRO will be sharing Weekly Updates during the scoping period to keep you informed about the project.
Weekly Update
This is the second in the series of Weekly Updates being shared during the remainder of the scoping period to keep you informed about the project. Last week’s update featured information on how to access a video recording of the formal scoping meeting presentation and other project resources as well as instructions on how to submit your scoping comments. In this week’s issue, the proposed project alternatives are spotlighted with supporting links to additional information.
There’s still time to submit your scoping comments! Please see below for instructions on how to submit your scoping comments through October 1, 2021.
Project Alternatives
Metro is working in coordination with Caltrans to evaluate alternatives to convert the existing high occupancy toll (HOV) lanes to dynamically-priced, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, called ExpressLanes, in both directions of I-405 between I-10 and US-101. The following alternatives are being considered as part of the environmental review process which will study how each performs in accomplishing the project's goals.
Project Alternatives Overview (5-minute video)
Alternative 1: Existing Conditions (no build)
Alternative 2: Convert HOV to one ExpressLane
Alternative 3: Convert HOV to two ExpressLanes (non-standard lane and shoulder widths)
Alternative 4: Convert HOV to two ExpressLanes (standard lane and shoulder widths)
Alternative 5: Add an Additional HOV Lane (non-standard lane and shoulder widths)
To learn more about the project alternatives, please watch the video clip above from a recent public scoping meeting presentation and explore the ‘Project Alternatives’ section of the interactive StoryMap.
Submit Your Comments
Please submit your comments via any of the following methods by Friday, October 1, 2021. During this period, you are encouraged to submit your thoughts and comments on the alternatives, as well as help identify and inform the issues that may need to be addressed in the environmental process.
